Today was sunny, but not as warm. About 80, and a little breezy.

Despite all the rain recently, the bog is still starting to dry out!

Planted Oxalis oregana and Polystichum munitum in Woodland Area 2, and also P. munitum in bog.

Mild and sunny

Today was sunny, but not really muggy, and also mild. About 75.

With all the rain lately, the bog has really greened up!!

Planted Apocynum androsaemifolium in Acid Area; Aralia nudicaulis, Lysimachia quadrifolia, and 3 types of Desmodium in Sand Area (Woodland part).

Today was humid, but mild. About 75. Cloudy with off and on rain in the morning and early afternoon.

Planted seeds of Baptisia tinctoria in Sand Area. Planted Calypso bulbosa seeds in bog; Ornithagalum nutans, Aquilegia viridiflora and Aquilegia vulgaris in sand area behind garage.

Storms, late

Today was sunny for the first half of the day, and muggy and warm - about 85. With late afternoon came thunderstorms with another inch of rain! Fortunately some pictures were taken before the weather went sour...

On the side of the house, Chelone lyonii has started blooming...

In the Acid Area, Chimaphila maculata is finally growing new leaves!

In the bog, Darlingtonia californica has sprouted many new leaves since planted.
Dionaea muscipula also has many new ones - all seen here have come out since planting!
Finally, Polygala lutea has a little tiny flower head, so far... it probably won't do much more!

Noticed today that Calypso bulbosa may be missing from bog :( !!! Suspect: slugs!

Warm and muggy!

Today was again very muggy, with strong storms in the morning! Another inch of rain! It's very wet - saturated - now! It was also warm, about 85.

Got Achlys triphylla, Maianthemum dilatatum, Tolmiea menziesii, Tellima grandiflora, Oxalis oregana and Menyanthes trifoliata today.

Planted Menyanthes trifoliata in bog, and ditch, and Maianthemum dilatatum in bog (by Aletris farinosa, on dirt part, and by D. californica) and Acid Area (at base of Azalea)

Arum italicum has come up since the bulbs were planted!

Muggy

Today was very muggy, and somewhat warm. About 85. Sunny most of the day. Rain in the morning.

Cloudy again

Today was cool, and very dark and cloudy, but no rain. About 65 again.

More rain!

Today rained and rained again! About 65 all day, and very cloudy!

Rain, rain!

Today was a wash-out! It rained literally all day, and continues! Over two inches of rain, and only about 63!

Cooler

Today was much cooler, and less humid. About 75, and cloudy most of the day. Rain came later in the evening and stayed through the rest of the night!

Today was sunny and mild... about 75. A lot less humid, too! :)

In the Main Garden, Actaea pachypoda's berries are ripe now.


In the bog, Calla palustris is spreading rapidly, and new Gaultheria procumbens leaves are coming up.

In Woodland Area 2, Lobelia siphilitica has started blooming.

Cloudy again

Today was cloudy with some rain in the early morning. Humid, but not overly hot - again about 80.

Got Erythronium helenae, Erythronium multiscapoideum, and Erythronium citrinum. Planted. E. helenae in Woodland Area 1, next to Goodyera pubescens; E. citrinum in Woodland Area 1 between Goodyera oblongifolia and Amianthium muscaetoxicum; and E. multiscapoideum in Woodland Area 1 next to Dicentra formosa.

Also planted bulbils of Lilium bulbiferum and Lilium rosthornii in various areas of the yard: the Pond Area, Main Garden, side of Garage, and back garden by the porch.

Cloudy

Today was cloudy all day with off and on rain. About 80.

Nice

Today was about 80, and sunny. Not very humid.

Less humid

Today was sunny and a little less humid, but still warm. About 82.

Brasenia schreberi finally reached the surface of the water in the Pond!

This Impatiens balsamina "suprised" me - I planted the seeds, but had forgotten until it started blooming.

Moved piece of Lysimachia terrestris from Pond to Bog garden - after two years, still hasn't bloomed. Also moved Diphylleia cymosa from Woodland Area 2 to Woodland Area 1.

Planted seeds of Trillium kurabayashii and Trillium ovatum 'Roy Elliot'. Put one dish of Trillium seeds in fridge.

Today was hot and humid!! About 87, and very sunny all day!

Surplus Rain

Today was mostly cloudy in the morning, and then sunny in the afternoon. About 80, and somewhat less humid. The drought is now officially over, and there is a surplus in the area of 1.7 inches for the year!

Rain day

Today was definitely a rain day! Starting in the early morning, it rained and continued much of the afternoon. Was able to snap a few pictures before it started, though...

A volunteer Asclepias incarnata is blooming in the vegetable garden.

In the Main Garden, Coreopsis tinctoria is finally blooming.

Hibiscus palustris is still giving plenty of flowers!

Here is some species of Ipomoea: two were blooming this morning, but they looked identical, and were not supposed to be!

In the bog garden, Platanthera ciliaris is now in full bloom.

Finally, also in the bog garden, Platanthera radiata has started blooming!

Today was hot and very humid! About 90. Sunny most of the day.

Today was warm and mostly cloudy - about 88. Through the morning hours, it rained about an inch.

Planted Cypripedium reginae, one in bog and one in Main Garden.

Also planted Allium flavum, Allium moly, Allium unifolium, Allium sphaerocephalon, Muscari comosum, and Hermodactylus tuberosus.

Today was mostly cloudy in the morning, and then sunny in the afternoon. Warm and also humid again - about 90.

Got Cypripedium reginae and Platanthera radiata; planted Platanthera radiata in bog.

From fridge dish, planted Echinacea purpurea alba, Melanthium virginicum, Lilium philadelphicum, Echinacea atrorubens, Asclepias viridiflora, Ruellia humilis, Echinacea pallida, Ruellia strepens, Gillenia trifoliata, and Talinum calycinum in Sand Area; Lithospermum multiflorum in Acid Area; Asclepias texana and Talinum calycinum in Woodland Area 2; Arisaema ciliatum in Woodland Area 1; and Adlumia fungosa in Vine Area.

Today was milder, and cloudy for much of the afternoon. About 82.

Dionaea muscipula started blooming in the bog garden!

Today was hot and sunny, about 90. Very humid!

Today was very warm and muggy! Looks like it'll continue for at least another week! No planting of much now, but just keeping things moist - especially the bog! About 95 today.
